Your email.
Our promise.
We use your email address to run the Rotordeck beta test and to answer messages you send us, and for nothing else. We don’t sell it, we don’t share it for marketing, and we don’t use it for advertising or profiling.

1. Who is responsible
Rotordeck is a brand of Hans Fraiponts, Emiel Lossystraat 37, 9040 Ghent, Belgium (business number 0873.510.437). Hans Fraiponts is the controller of your personal data for the Rotordeck beta test. Contact for anything in this statement: [email protected].
2. What we collect
When you join the beta using the form on rotordeck.com, we store:
- your email address;
- the optional “setup” text you type (for example your phone and receiver), if you fill it in;
- the date and time you signed up, and the date and time you ticked the consent box.
We do not store your IP address, name, location or device details in our signup list. The beta signup page sets no cookies and uses no advertising trackers. The public apps use browser storage and external services as described below.
Website statistics
To see how many people visit rotordeck.com and which pages they read, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not build a profile of you or follow you across other sites. For each page view it records the page address, the referring site, your browser and operating system type, your country and page load times. We only see these as totals; it does not give us your IP address or anything that identifies you, and it is never linked to the signup list. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the website is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). If your browser blocks the script, nothing is recorded.
3. Why, and on what legal basis
We use your email address only to invite you to the Rotordeck beta test and to contact you about it: invitations, test instructions, updates about the test and requests for feedback. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time, as described below. Withdrawing does not affect anything we did before.
4. Who else handles your data
We never sell your data and never share it for marketing. It is handled only by the following services, which we need in order to run the beta:
- Cloudflare hosts this website, stores the signup list (Cloudflare Workers and D1, set up with a Western Europe location hint) and provides the website statistics described above. Cloudflare acts as our processor.
- Migadu (Switzerland) sends our outgoing emails to you. Switzerland has an adequacy decision from the European Commission.
- Google, only if you are invited to the Android beta: to give you access to the closed test on Google Play, your email address, which must be a Google account, is entered in the Google Play Console. Google handles it under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and is responsible for that processing.
We do not pass your data to anyone else, unless the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
The signup list is only a waiting list for the beta. We keep your entry for as short a time as we can:
- When you are onboarded: once you have been invited and your Google account has been added to the Google Play closed test, we delete your entry (email address and setup text) from our signup list. From then on, Google holds your email address under its own privacy policy.
- When the beta ends: we delete every entry that is still on the list, including people who did not get a place. The closed test has a limited number of places (up to 100).
- If you withdraw your consent: we delete your entry within 30 days, or sooner.
Copies of emails we exchanged with you may remain in our mailbox at Migadu until you ask us to delete them. Removing you from the Google Play tester list is done separately, at the same time as the other deletions.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us at any time to:
- show you the data we hold about you (access);
- correct it (rectification);
- delete it (erasure) and remove you from the beta;
- restrict how we use it, or give you a copy in a common format (portability);
- withdraw your consent, as easily as you gave it: email [email protected].
We will answer within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données, gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be) or to the authority in your own EU country.
7. Providing your data is optional
You don’t have to join the beta. If you don’t give us your email address and consent, you simply can’t take part in the test. We make no automated decisions about you.
Contact form
When you send a message with the form on rotordeck.com/contact, we store your email address, your name if you give it, the topic you pick, your message, and the date and time you ticked the consent box. We use them only to read and answer your message. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the box; you can withdraw it at any time by emailing [email protected]. Messages are stored by Cloudflare (Workers and D1, Western Europe location hint) as our processor, and our replies go out through Migadu. We delete a message at the latest 12 months after our last contact about it, or within 30 days if you ask us to. The rights in section 6 apply here too. The form sets no cookies and stores no IP address.
Public apps: Stickbeats, OSD Fonts, Betasplash and Sticklink
Stickbeats and OSD Fonts store settings and saved projects locally in your browser, using localStorage and, for Stickbeats recordings, IndexedDB. Their storage names remain separate. Clearing site data can remove that work. Browser-saved projects on the GitHub Pages sites do not automatically transfer to rotordeck.com; use the old site’s export options before moving your work.
Stickbeats requests microphone permission only when you record. Recording and editing happen in your browser. OSD Fonts requests serial-device permission when you choose to connect compatible hardware. Device access and file import/export happen locally; those actions do not submit your project to the beta signup service.
Betasplash processes imported images and edits in memory in your browser tab; export your work before leaving. It loads artwork fonts from Google Fonts. Stickbeats also loads fonts for sound-theme artwork from Google Fonts, and some voice downloads come from GitHub. Its Request page embeds a Google Form: opening that page makes requests to Google, and submitting the form sends your answers to Google and the form owner. These services receive connection information such as your IP address and apply their own privacy policies. See Google’s privacy policy and GitHub’s privacy statement.
The Sticklink page is static: it sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, and its screenshots are served from rotordeck.com. Links to GitHub and Discord leave this site and are covered by those services’ policies. The Sticklink program you download runs on your own computer and sends nothing to Rotordeck; its GPS map fetches tiles from the internet (OpenStreetMap by default) when you use that block. Details: Sticklink privacy policy.
8. Changes
If we change this statement we will update the date above, and we will ask for your consent again if we ever want to use your data for something new.
